For GYTS Cable, optical fibers are housed in loose tubes made of high-modulus material, which are filled with water-blocking compound. A metallic strength member sits at the center of the cable core; for cables with certain fiber counts, an extra polyethylene (PE) layer is extruded over the metallic strength member. Loose tubes (together with filler ropes) are stranded tightly and circularly around the central strength member to form the cable core, with interstices within the core filled with water-blocking filler. A double-side plastic-coated steel tape is longitudinally wrapped, followed by extrusion of a polyethylene outer sheath to finish cabling.
